BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (April 27, 2017) – On April, 26th, ATI Physical Therapy and the ATI Foundation, ATI’s charity arm, which provides aid to children with physical impairments, hosted a special beneficiary presentation at ATI’s Waterloo, Ill., clinic where one local family was presented a check to help pay for the resources needed to support their child with special needs.
Through the ATI Foundation’s ongoing mission of giving back to local communities, the Boyer family from Waterloo was presented a $3,500 check, which will help cover the costs for therapeutic horseback riding session, a special adaptive bicycle and new ankle foot orthotics (or AFOs) for their daughter, Lydia.
Lydia Boyer was diagnosed with stage 4 Medulloblastoma, which has left her with limited mobility among other ailments. Since this diagnosis, she has undergone six brain surgeries and a multitude of other procedures. The adaptive bicycle will help support overall movement and allow Lydia, the opportunity to ride a bike with other kids.
“From day one, ATI has embraced us like family,” said Josh Boyer, Lydia’s father. “ATI and the Foundation have been amazing. We have great trainers and feel like we’ve been getting quality physical therapy and we know that Lydia’s getting stronger because of it.”
