ATI Physical Therapy “Kick-Off Week” Prepares Athletic Trainers for Sports Emergencies

The Sports Medicine Team at ATI Physical Therapy is gearing-up for the start of the fall sports season this week by hosting its annual “Kick-Off Week” for both its Midwest and East Coast divisions. Athletic trainers will sharpen their medical skills with educational seminars and hands-on instruction.

Over 200 athletic trainers will attend the week-long program addressing hot topics in the field of sports medicine including: concussion management, emergency response, acute injuries, and injury prevention and rehabilitation.

The special feature of the week is ATI’s Second Annual National Sports Medicine Summit, a two-day educational conference featuring nationally-recognized orthopaedic surgeons presenting information on the latest operative and non-operative rehabilitation techniques and treatment interventions.

Additionally, the week’s training will include In 2Minutes or Less!®, a hands-on, true-to-life sports emergency management program, extended training in ImPACT®, a widely-used concussion evaluation system, and CPR certification.

“Our annual Kick-Off Week is the most important event we host each year,” says Katie Varnado, Midwest Director of Sports Medicine, ATI Physical Therapy.  “Our athletic trainers are given the cutting-edge knowledge and training they need to respond appropriately on the field, and provide the highest quality of care to our athletes.”

The athletic trainers of ATI Sports Medicine are certified healthcare professionals who work with athletes at all levels of their sports. Athletic trainers are specialists in the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries. In addition to being present at games and practices to treat acute injuries, athletic trainers work closely with players and coaches to improve the overall health of athletes and prevent future injuries.

ATI Sports Medicine has over 140 Sports Medicine affiliations with professional, collegiate, high school and club sport athletic programs.
